Strategies of highly successful poker players
Playing and winning at poker depends a lot on strategy. Most experience players have adopted a strategy that works well for them.
One of the most basic strategies is to play with a closed style. This involves not speaking or showing expressions and trying to hide any gestures so that opponents cannot read you and guess your cards.
Another very popularly employed strategy is to be very talkative and chatty during the game. This way players might get distracted and commit a blunder. It also serves to make sure that closed players open up a bit and reveal their strength and weaknesses.
Many extremely experienced and confident players actively try to break their opponent’s concentration and remove their attention from the game. They do this by joking with the person, making stupid jokes, personal jibes etc.
One very successful strategy which works very well if executed properly is to control your own expressions to a great extent. This means that you react the exact same way every time or you react completely differently in each separate situation. Remain either completely expressionless or highly animated during the course of the game.
The key while playing poker is to make your expressions unreadable and at the same time employ methods through which your opponents lower their guard and you can guess where their game is at. This game requires immense concentration so just as you try to break your opponent’s concentration, make sure yours is intact. Thus guessing your opponent’s cards and ensuring that he can’t read you. Thus do not lower you guard when you are playing poker or for that matter any other card game. Try to make the others very comfortable so that they let down their defence and you know where they are headed.
