Being the Bluff Master

One extremely important facet of card games is bluffing and poker is no exception. Bluffing is the most exciting part of the game and if it pays off it only pushes you to go ahead. Bluffing is great when it is done correctly, if done without thinking it can be an extremely stupid thing to do. If you are looking to win a game or at least have an edge over your opponents you have to perfect the art of bluffing. You will get caught sometimes and it is fine, but getting caught too much means that you bluff unnecessarily and stupidly.
It is indeed great to win a game by bluffing, but it is even more devastating to lose. The amount of annoyance caused by losing money in a game is far greater than the pleasure one gets out of winning the same amount. That is why before you bluff it is wise to weigh the advantages and disadvantages of your move and also the psychological effects.
Bluffing is obviously a very good tactic, but can be disastrous if you go overboard, something which happens with many people. As long as bluffing wins you money, it is fine but you should know where to draw the line. It is foolish to bluff when there is no opportunity to win or a great chance that your bluff will be caught. Another thing is that you shouldn’t bluff just because you enjoy doing it and you get a rush out of it. Bluff because it gives you an edge and increases your chances of winning. When you’re winning bluffing is a good move. If you’re not it is plain stupid. And one very basic thing in poker is that reckless bluffing is a strict no-no. So watch what you’re doing and bluff only if there is a chance it will pay off.
